3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
my 2.2 took about 1 and 1/2 quarts from draining just the pan. You'll need a 10mm hex to get the drain out. I apply upward pressure with the jack on the back of the breaker bar to get the drain bolt cracked (just for the first 1/4 turn). I don't want to "cam out" the drain bolt.
YMMV
just buy 3 quarts of ATF dex 3. It's ok to keep some on hand. Does not spoil.

If you have the 4 cylinder 2.2 5SFE engine, draining and refilling the pan takes 2.6 quarts. Draining and refilling the differential, which must be drained and refilled separately on the I4, takes 1.7 quarts. Be sure to use Dexron III.
Mobil 1 ATF Dex III/ Mercon is good, and I use it in my power steering as well.
But for a flush, do a search
I did use a less expensive fluid (if you will be doing that by yourself), for experience, timing etc. I used the walmart store brand for my initial flush of my V6, and know I was not wasting fluid with my set up of hose, connectors, transfer pump for filling and so forth. one of my connections came apart during my experience, so I now added zip ties to my list of things to prepare for in my head, if I do that again..
I now do yearly drain and fill with Dex IV. and that is it.
