Dude, how the heck did you guys who changed your gauge bulbs ever get the stupid black panel out, i got as far as unscrewing the 2 screws that hold the black panel in place but could not seem to pop out the clips that held it in and i didnt want to force them and break them??????? just curious.....thanks
i popped out the 2 screws at the top of the trim piece, then popped out the trim, undid the 4 screws 2 at the top 2 at the bottom of the cluster. the rest is buttah as they say
After you take the top screws out, just pull firmly from the top of the frame. If that comes loose, then try prying the sides off and then the center. It's okay if it flexes a little, but you just gotta work it out, little by little. I had a hard time taking it out the first time but after that, it was easier. I think I've taken it off 4 or 5 times now.
Be patient, i'm working on a DIY on replacing all the bulbs and how to remove, dash , clock and center console controls and more.. If you brake it I'll sell you one, hahahahahha I purchased 3 clusters for this proyect..
thanks....again i'l try and work on it again this weekend, i know its not that hard, but then again popping out my corner signal lights werent easy on the camry either, i basically know how to do it, its just those stupid clips and i have the bulbs for the gauges too....can't wait to get that done to see how they look
ok wait, if you have a gen4, take the two screws to remove the cluster cover, once you remove those 2 screws there are two clips, one next to the clock and the other one on the oposite side next to the vent..just pull slow but pulling. Once you get that out, remove the 4 screws of the cluster, unplug the wires and get the cluster.
Now if you just one to replace bulbs, that's all you need.
A little pick of the project that I was working today. since my camry didn't come with security, I decided to install a hyperbright led on the cluster. I wanted to put it where the original goes, but it was to difficult and it wasn't gonna work with this led, so I did this:
and a pic of the center console with regular bulbs but without the green covers..I'm waiting on the HID white leds to install there..

How did you change the light in the center console (pix above)? My center console light ran out, where in the fuse box could i check for(in which category)?
Ok to replace the bulbs you need to remove, remove the ashtray and pull the outer radio or console trim out, then pull the 3 knobs out (the ones that control fan speed, heat /cold and air exit) once you remove those knobs, remove the platic on the end of the air in or circulation handle(be carefull it has a clear plastic in betwen) once you have those out, remove the 3 screws located behind of the three knobs and pull the cover out, there you'll see the bulbs..they are #74. The ones on the ac bottom and the rear defroster are really small leds, I have to find out about those becouse they don't plug in in a ???bulb holder???? like the other bulbs, they are just regular leds with the to metal legs rap around a conector.. I left those alone since my stereo has green on it, but I'll find out info about those.

As the others have said, there is one clip at the outside of what I call the wings on that panel. After removing the 2 screws up on top, I find it easiest to use a little j-hook tool or a dental pick to loosen the clips. Just snake it behind the wings right near the clips and pry or pull it outward. The panel should pop right out.
