92 Camry LE jerks while idling and occurs more often later in the day

Hey guys,
I have a 4 cylinder automatic 92 camry.
While at a long stop light with my foot on the brake I would feel my car jerk and the rpm needle would drop down for a second and then come back up. Later in the day, the jerks would occur more often at stop lights and sometimes when starting the car and its idling. What do you believe is the problem?
The car just had a tune up, transmission fluid changed, oil changed, clean intake induction system, clean throttle body, fuel injection system, checked dist cap, rotor & set timing, ck belts, hoses, fluid, tires, and battery.

I'm also planning to drive across country what would you suggest I should get checked out?

Thanks for the help,
Susan

i have a 1996 camry and i have that same problem it doesnt happen when in park or neutral. only in drive at a full stop right? i was told that this isnt a huge issue it is just the motor mount that causes the vibration....i wouldnt worry about it unless it starts getting really bad.

That's right it does only occur while in drive at a full stop light. I've never had this happen before. I did have new engine mounts placed in back 2004.
In the mornings the jerky motion would occur occasionally, but later in the day after driving it for awhile the jerks occur more frequently. Should I be concern?

Thanks for your response.

Ive been told from a mechanic not to worry about it. ive had my car looked over for the vibration and he said it can be one of two things...the mounts, or a bushing on the transmission...he said not to worry about it..hope this helps

tighten the trans kick down cable, also upgrading ground lines help as well (search big 3).

real non-dont worry about it answer.

you just had trans service done. so old trans fluid is full of matter of the internal clutch disk wearing down. the trans actually uses this as like a liquid surface, so basically there an internal clutch thats almost worn out. of the dont worry part, it most likely to last like a 100k miles before it completely dies.

if the easy mentioned stuff dosen't work go with lucas, thicker fluid works awsome.

"and the rpm needle would drop down for a second and then come back up"

This is different from the normal vibration these car experience at idle. Some vibration at idle is normal for the generation 3 4 cylinder 5SFE engine. This is not normal. It makes me suspect your problem is a dirty idle air control valve. Take it back to whoever did the throttle body cleaning and ask them to clean the idle air control valve. There is a square or diamond shaped port in the base of the throttle body that leads to the idle air control valve. They can start by simply spraying throttle body cleaner liberally down in to that port and letting it soak for 15 minutes. Then they will put everything back together and test drive the car. They shouldn't charge much for this service or you can try doing it yourself. If that dosen't cure the problem, they will have to remove and manually clean the idle air control valve.
