my car makes a fart noise when it first rolls

ok, maybe not a farting noise... and ... well...

at the start of the day, or anytime i haven't driven my car for long hours.. i start the car, warm it up, and roll out...

like somewhere from my car, there's a fart noise? the ass generates various kinds of farting noises, so let me try to be more specific.

if you get a dry hand, and rub your palm across a glass table, the noise it makes from the friction of skin rubbing against the glass... that kind of noise.

i dont know where the hell its coming from, and i can never recreate it at the mechanic shop.

anybody have any idea what it may be??

it only happens when the wheels begin to roll at least several inches. farts. then silence the rest of the day.

Do you have an unusual driveway that the tire friction makes a different kind of noise? I tend to imagine a real smooth surface like painted concrete.

nope, my driveway is mostly dirt and grass.

it makes the noise i mentione on any surface and does not at all sound like it's coming from the tires. possibly somewhere internal.

Can you open the hood and get someone to start it while you listen to the engine compartment? Maybe you could narrow down the source.

Do you have rear disks or drums? On my gen 3 with drums it used to make a similar sound, only for the first movement of the day, thereafter it was quiet. Also found it happen after washing the car, or if it had been parked for some time a day or 2. Problem disappeared after changing the drums and rear linings.

i think it only happens if i--steer all the way to one side to back out of somewhere, then steer it all the way to the other direction to drive off--upon accelerating at this point, the car makes that noise.

i will do this several times to see if it's everytime, or just once a day. i thought it was once a day, because i only drive out of my driveway like this once a day.

sticky or frozen caliper? frozen emergency brake? If it's actually coming from the front, then possibly a bad strut bearing.

If its related to your steering give all your steering components a check, make sure you dont have any worn out bushings or leaks from the steering rack.
