Question Speed sensor ???....

Ok, I have yet ANOTHER question...I finally got my car doing great, but the other day, it was acting kinda funny and revving real high between shifting(b/t 3-5K) before it would catch and begin to accelerate. I also noticed that the speedometer wasnt working, and the O/D light was flashing. I told my hubby about it all, and we began to troubleshoot. We topped off the tranny fliud(which was almost full anyway), then jumpered the diagnostic plug, and got a code for the vehicle speed sensor. Manual states that it is a sensor on the rear of the tranny that, when gone bad, can cause the O/D light to flash, and stop the speedometer from working...DING DING DING... ok so that is the problem....

so I guess my main ???? is this...I also have a 1MZ...will the speed sensor from the 1MZ fit on the tranny of my 5S? I was unsure if they had the same tranny or not...and there is no point in buying another one if I have a perfectly good one already. Thanks in Advance.

no...the speed sensors are different

but you can go to the junkyard and pic one up- not too sure how to get it out though, only because it's quite often rusted to the tranny...

playmategirl,

What I do when I have a question like this, is go to any of the Toyota dealer's online parts catalogs. There are several that advertise on this forum. I look up the part for the I4 and also the V6. I check to see if the part numbers are the same or different. That said, since the transmissions are different, I would suspect the speed sensors are different like Eye8Pussies said; but you never know. I might be worth checking out before you head down to the salvage yard. At least you would know which engines to check, once you are there.
