4th Generation 99 XLE Steering Wheel Radio Controls?

Did the 99 XLE have optional steering wheel radio control buttons?

If so, does anyone have a toyota part number, and do you have any idea if the wiring for it would be in the steering column? And how hard/easy is it to remove or add the buttons?

Does anyone know if the buttons are a resistance ladder? I would want to mod them to work with my Creative Zen Micro.

TIA.

If I am not mistaken, the steering wheel radio controls did not debut on the Camry until the 5th or 6th generation.

4th Generation

gen4 did not have steering wheel controls. However, the 1st gen Toyota Sienna came with the same steering wheel and many of those had steering wheel radio control on the left side of the wheel

I noticed the some of the later Sienna radios look to be the same as the gen4.5 radios.

Whether it will work on the Camry is another question. I've been wondering about this for a long time as well.

I priced the steering wheel control from the Sienna from a Toyota dealer before and it was over $300, so I was not about to take a chance to see if it would work or not.....
