ok so i got bored, spent 7 bucks and took pics. enjoy and ask anything ya wanna know.... ill add as i finish the stops to keep it level and if i figure out a good way to keep it unlocked all the time and have it swing open this way... for now i plan to use a set up similar to hood pins... on with the show
first i drilled some small holes for reference, incase i needed help to remount at stock:
next put a old shirt down to protect the wndow, wadded up for padding, and took out the bolts
important note-if you dont have help, get something to prop thr tunk lid up so you dont tweak it or drop it on your head...i got my hoe to hold it up
ok now pull the arm down i used a large wrench to sorta lock it in place, and line up the hinge drill very small pilot holes and mount the 2 that will work then remount the bottom bolt and drill pilot holes for all three in the trunk, allso mark where the screw heads are on the arm so you can drill out holes for them to go into andl et the arm fit more flush.
hey that's kinda neat. i'm not really understanding the purpose though, just a cool look ? i can dig that too.
just something different, good if i were to ever get it to a level where i would show, for now its just something for parking lot pimpin

ill be trying to modify the original inner liner for the trunk lid to work with this, just not till i got the work done, or was there something different you meant?
also another reason i did this, soon ill start on my glassed enclosures, planing for something that will still allow for spare tireaccess (which i plan to make look good too )
man, retarded sure does catch a bad rap nowadays. and to think not long ago it was considered almost angelic to develop to a point and then cease developing.
this guy/gal goes out on a limb, does a visually dramatic modification, posts it for critique of his/her peers, and gets slammed with 'retarded'. ouch.
i'm for it, i'm starting to like it, not only because it's mechanical art, but also you made it yourself.
eh to each their own, i think it looks funny over rotated, so its locked right now till i cut some diamond plate up to make stops, although for cheap ones i could use shelf brackets...(rofl) and i have toyed with the idea of just using some decorative chain of some sort...
btw if someone has a gen 3 close to my area and wants help let me know and we can take a look at it.
also if someone can come up with a way to be able to leave it unlocked and open n close easily let me know, im working on that problem and a way to either reverse open or side open the hood.
