I am in the process of making a DIY intake using the stock airbox. I will post pics of the pipe when it is finished and the couplers I am using. Just a simple upgrade to make it a little cleaner in my prospective.

Well as an update all the parts have been ordered. I ordered a 3" intake pipe with 3/8" nipple fitting. It comes in a 15" section, this will be cut down to fit. I also ordered two silicon couplers one in a 3" size and another in a 2.5" to 3" reducer size. I will be painting the pipe with a high temp paint. Once completed I may also tap it for nitrous.

well here is an update. I still need to get one coupler, I have received the 3" intake pipe and cut it to size and sanded it down for primer. I will be painting it gloss black. I will post pics once it is complete. I using the stock airbox remember. I may buy a spare air box lid and cut out the maf housing so I can run an open filter.

i'VE SEEN PEOPLE RUN THE INTAKE WITH JUST the TOP OF THE AIR BOX with the filter held in with screws OR JUST A LARGE SECTION CUT OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF box. anyhow those setups are really loud!! but I see how you want to replace the oem intake silencer and have a larger intake pipe. be sure to show some pics!! good luck.
oh why don't you just go to schucks or auto zone to get the couplers? they're not that expensive there.

id jsut use some spectre elbows and branch it off teh airbox and run it into the fender. or jsut buy a V6 SRI and CAI extension and wrap the airbox around it

well here is an update with pics just finished painting the pipe I cut down to size. I also want to try and keep my carmax warranty intact some as I am only replacing the intake pipe and that can be swapped out real easily should something go wrong.

The intake is on and completed. I will take pictures tommorrow when it isn't as shitty out.
