4th Generation TRD Sport Muffler

Does anyone here have a trd sport muffler? I'm planning on getting one but before I buy it, I'd like to know how it performs and how much HP you actually gain. I have a 2000 v6.

Your gains are minimal to nothing... Once it cures though, it'll give your car a better sound. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it takes more than a muffler to get any significant HP gain.

+ 1 No significant performance gains to be had with only a muffler.

Really? They claim to gain 2-20 hp. I was planning of getting one today for $380. I thought if I gain at least 5-10 hp it'll be worth it. Good thing I asked you guys first. Thanks!

$380 is a lot for a muffler IMO. Magnaflows are pretty popular, you should look into those.

You mean a universal muffler? How much does it cost to have it welded? Anyway, here's the trd muffler I was talking about.

you would just be buying it for the sound. only possibly slightly noticeable gains will be done when you redo your full exhaust to a larger size and primarily your y-pipe

Yeah a universal muffler (axle-back). I've had 2 Magnaflows and an Apexi cat-back on mine. I recently got a "loud muffler" ticket when I had the Apexi so I just threw on my old Magnaflow. Cost me $40 for the install.

Thanks xet! I might get that magnaflow that '_' recommends. Gaining only sound for $380 just isn't worth it.

Sorry to hear that. I'm at magnaflow website and I think this looks nice.

That one looks good. I actually got two oval Magnaflow's. One was a 3-chambered design XL (way too quiet) and the other was a straight-through design. I think a few people have gotten mufflers through this site:

I'm not sure how good their reputation is though..
