Sun roof motor not working and leaking

My (non factory installed) sun roof in my 95 Camry started leaking yesterday and now today the motor is grinding. My decision at this point is to disconnect the motor and just have a skylight in the car.

I wanted to get some suggestions/recommendations on the leaking though. Do I need to take the entire sunroof out to seal it or since I plan on not using it anymore can I just calk around the outside of the moonroof and in the inside where the glass is hitting the frame?

Welcome fellow minnesotan!

The seal around my sunroof is starting to pull up, so I think one of my summer projects is to replace ALL weatherstripping on my car. That's gonna be fun...

My motor went on my sunroof and the dealer said it was due to the jam sensors. I'm not paying 920 bucks for a dealer motor so I am leaving it. No leak luckily. I would remove or open the sunroof and then apply the sealant . I would then close the sunroof. If you don't you will have a leak in a week or so. I know this from sealing other things.

Wow. Holy thread from the dead. I ended up taking it to a accessories detailer who reveresed a gear part and I was able to get the sun roof to shut tight again. Resealed the window and we're good to go now. I've disabled the power option to open. It is now a Camry with a skylight that doesn't leak.
