Camry Clutch Conundrum - HELP!

Hi folks,
I'm new to the post & looking for some diagnostic help. I have a '92 Camry Dlx- 2200 motor & 5 speed manual trans. The car has 141,000 miles and the clutch had never slipped. On a cold day two months ago, I started my car, shifted into reverse and backed out of my parking spot. I clutched and shifted into first, drove forward approximately 20 feet and then felt a pop like the car jumped out of gear. I clutched and pushed the stick into first- nothing. I tried every gear- no motion. With the engine running and without depressing the clutch pedal, I was able to move the shifter into all gears freely with no grinding. I had the car towed to my driveway where it has been sitting since. Last weekend, I got in the car, started it, and just for fun clutched and shifted into first. When I let the clutch out, the car lurched forward!! I had been of the belief that the clutch had suffered some freak catastrophic failure, but now, after sitting for two months, everything seems to work fine. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know what may have caused the problem? Is it likely to have cured itself, or will it fail again?

Yes, yes

I had a very similar thing happen to me the other day. I have a 01 Camry with a manual tranny.
I was on an uphill stop and when going it seemed like my clutch had burnt up. I was up to 6000 rev's and the car was moving like a snail so I shifted to 2nd and the rev's shot up but the car was at the same speed.
For the next couple of miles it was nothing but hills and the car was moving at a very slow speed going up hill--on 3rd gear was going 25 miles an hour.
I let it sit over night and in the morning it was like new. I have been driving it for two weeks and it's like nothing happened.
Strange issue but working fine....I'll keep my fingers crossed
