3rd Generation Gen 3 problems..

Hey guys,

I have a 93 v6 camry.. and i'm experiencing some probs.. thought i'd ask here before taking it in.

number 1 - i KNOW my alignment is messed, hit a curb while slipping on snow and it messed up a little.. but now that there's no snow i'm noticing it shaking a lot on the highway near the 100-120 km/h range.. (around 55 m/hr)

the car already strays to the right but now this..

is it my tires? I want to get new ones soon, but i'm wondering if it could be anything else.

also..

it's starting to make a lot of noise when it comes to going over bumps, just doesn't seem smooth enough.. could it be my shocks? springs? how can i tell? change them? how much will they cost? any suggestions on which ones? where? (im in the toronto area)..

I think it's the shocks/suspension b/c of the noise it makes also.. just doesn't seem as smooth as it used to be.

being a student and owning a car's a total b*tch.. but i'm trying to make sure the car runs smooth.. so any help before having to take it into the shop would be great.

thanks

I can't offer advice on what your specific suspension problems are, but if you're looking for somewhere to take the car, Basil at T-Lex in Markham is great and honest.

I believe you destroyed your ball joint, they are easy to replace, three or four bolts. It could also be your tie-rod end. If it's the ball-joint, it'll usually feel like your suspension is loose going over every bump when going straight. Here's how to tell, while the car is parked and off, grab the tire with both hands and try to yank left in/out and right in/out. If you feel slop, it's a tie-rod. Or if you feel ambitious enough, jack the car up, and take the wheel off. Check the tie-rod by removing the bottom nut and pounding carefully up with a hammer. The swiveling end should be tight and not sloppy. The only good way to check the ball joint is to remove it.
