Nankang NS-1 Blew Out

Ok, so I put a set of 4 brand new Nankang NS-1 tires on my Camry in 215/45R17 a month ago and have only driven maybe 400 miles on them. So today I drove back from the laundromat and my rear drivers side tire sidewall blew out, but I didn't notice it until I got home, thankfully I only live 3 blocks from the laundromat (I'm too lazy to walk). My tires are at 35psi and I bought the tires from www.discounttirezone.com. I have e-mailed discounttirezone.com and Nankang about this hoping that it will fall under a warranty. Right now I have my spare tire on (195/70R14 steelie). So my questions to you are:

1) Will this fall under warranty? Will I have a problem having them honor it? Does anyone have any experience with this?
2)In just under 2 weeks I have to drive 240 miles from Pittsburgh to Lancaster for the summer, will it cause a problem having 3 rims and a steelie if I can't get it fixed by then? The overall diameters are almost the same.

Sorry, but I really need to rant about this, I mean they are BRAND F**KING NEW tires!

Well that surely SUCKS....Nanking tires...never heard of em...but anyways they should stand behind their products. Hopefully u can get the problem resovled in the 2 weeks prior to ur trip.
As long as the tires are the same diameter, u shouldn't have a problem going on the trip,It'll just look strange and maybe handle alittle different, but u still have 3 more Nankings on ur car, so I'd definitely replace the spare.

^ thanks, at least I'll be able to get home without a problem (knock on wood). These are the tires that I have:

http://www.discounttirezone.com/NANK..._121-1243.html

and conveniently they are out of stock right now so I couldn't get another one from there even if I wanted to.

Honestly Nankangs are some of the cheapest "Performance" tire that you can buy, I know because i had these same ones and i got them because they were the cheapest i could find. Lasted about one year or 12,000 miles. Next time spend alittle more and get better tires. Just my 2 cents.

they suffer the same flaws as many khumos, they have weak sidewalls. chances are you had a nail or somthing in the tire, the air leaked out, strained the sidewall and it blew out. happened to me with my khumos years ago. i was goin much faster when it happened though. only happened once, but then again ive never driven on low pressure since then.

I'll have to check for signs of a puncture. There is no rubber missing, just a flap of rubber hanging so chances are that if there was a puncture I'll find some signs of it. Thanks for the tip. Also you mentioned that you never drove on low pressure since, does that make a difference as to the ability to be punctured? And yes I know these are cheap tires, but they are my second set of them and I think (at least I used to think) it is worth it. My last set lasted me 3 years and about 25,000 miles with some hard beatings in there.

well depending whats the proper PSI for the tire, if it gets too low the only place for the tire to flex is the sidewalls. the lower the profile the more strss is put on the sidewall if the tire is low. if my tires are low, i find out why and fill them so i dont have a blowout or premature ware on the sidewalls. designing stiff durrable sidewals are expensive so some companies skimp there since if filled to the correct psi the sidewall is fine.
