3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
when i go up to highpoint which is where everyone cruises and races around here this dude i know told me everyone laughs at me because i have exaust and etc on a camry thats so gay i mean cause i mean they have freaking hondas and stuff wow big flipping deal my freaking car sounds better than half of them sound like rice my don't so screw whats everyone else think what do yall say to people that says that stuff to yall?
First: Please use correct punctuation. Your run on sentences muddles your message.
Adding a fart can to your car does not constitute coolness. Its the owner's frame of mind. If your feelings get hurt anytime someone makes a negative comment about your car, perhaps you should stop going up there.
I would prefer my car to have a clean appearance and subtle, or quality mods than for it to be pasted with every possible logo, and over sized, pathetic cosmetic aesthetics.
Theres many people here with beautiful Cams. Rims, a TRD lip, tint, and a drop is all it takes.

i just wish i could go somewhere, where there is alot of tuned camrys and etc ya know?
That's not gonna happen, unfortunately.
Have you ever thought about not going there anymore? Or maybe ask that "friend" why people don't walk up to you and talk shit directly to your face?

Yeah, but it's not easy, esp. with the established tuner crowd, a Camry is something they think of as a "grocery getter" or "grandma-mobile" You just gotta show them that what you are doing is no different than what they are doing... except what you're doing to your camry is 15,000,000x better than anything they can do to a civic/integra.

yea i know that but the thing is how is the camry any diffrent than a honda accord 4 door its the same kinda bodystyle sorta and the engines diffrent i mean shoot if i wanted to keep the car i put that new celica motor i heard they came out with and 5 speed it and smoke all of them

well i mean the honda accord 4 door is a similar bodystyle i dont see them saying junk to them its just cause we don't have their lil VTEC i mean shoot if i keep this car id put the 3sgte in this and 5 speed and smoke all of them then who would be laughing then me haha
well for me they do this......when they hear the whine, then i quickly leave so they dont realize im still slow
but serously, i get compliments and complaints alike, but im very humble about my car. its SO different to see a well modded camry, and if anyone dont like it, well...i didnt mod my camry to impress anyone.
there are 2 main groups of people who mod camrys. either they want to mod somthing and the camry is what they happen to drive, or they love their car and want it to stand out, be faster or both.

yea me its the car in general that i love i mean whats wrong with wanting to be diffrent i mean im sorrry if everyone drives a flipping honda in hp its retarded them and their lil JDM lips this one dude wont even race hes got more money in the apreance in his body than in his car itself like the type r conversion the engine is just a b18 non vtec im like i would make it both fast and look good not just look good.
You don't really say what mods you've done to your car and you haven't posted any pics that I've seen, so it's hard to say what might cause that reaction.
But, no matter what you drive, or do to your car, there will be somebody that doesn't like it, so mod your car for yourself, not for others.
Having said that, there are some mods that are just generally going to draw more criticism from more people than other mods. For example, few people would criticize tints and a tasteful set of rims (some still would on a Camry, mind you). A lot more people would criticize a big wing spoiler or huge fart can muffler or 22" rims (ref another recent thread).
You have to decide what YOU want to do. What YOU like. Weigh that against the image that YOU want to project, then realize that no matter what, some people won't like it, and just decide that you're ok with that. And if you like it, and the people you're hangin with really are making fun of you all the time, maybe you want to reconsider who you're hangin with?
