Hey guys, today i painted my rims cause the factory paint was chipping and really looking bad so id thought id make a thread of it all in the end so here you go.
I first painted one gold to see how it would look with the white, in the sun it looked bangin but everywhere else looked like shit so i got rid of that and went with silver.
DIY: Paint your rims
Stuff you need before hand
Paint remover
Sand paper
Wire brush
Drill
Index cards or paper
Primer
paint
clear coat
For the paint i used dupli-color wheel paint silver, i like it cause it has alot of metallics and came out nice, shiny, sparkly.
First i sanded the OEM paint with the sand paper just to give the aircraft remover some places to start digging in there and doin work. then just sprayed the aircraft remover on there let it sit and wire brushed the rest off.
I attached the brush to my drill and really recommend it cause it saves a lot of time and hard work.
heres the after product sorry no in between photos.
Then once everythings cleared off and you just got the metal go ahead and prime the wheel, i used several light coats of rustoleums automotive primer .
once youve done a couple of coats of the primer you can do some coats of the paint.
after that spary some coats of clear coat and let it dry.
DIY: TINT
Stuff you need
water bottle filled with soapy water
squeegee
tint film
razor
time
first spray the window your going to tint with the soapy solution and take a peice of film and lay it on the outside of the glass.
squeegee out some water and trim the film around the edges of the window. This is easier than doing it on the inside of the window.
on the inside spray the solution on the inside of the window and place the tint on it.
line everything up and squeegee out the water. your done
well heres the final results of the day i only did the rear windows and they dont make the car look goofy or awkward, infact i could get away with no rear tinting.
The Camry is a car that I can rip out someone's pride, stab it, beat it, and completely bash their egos, and it's so ridiculous that the person comes back with a hysterical laugh... ROFL They got trainlengthed by a Camry that in their mind, was a 18 sec car.
but here's some questions some members may ask: what grit sand paper did u use? and what kind of wire brush did u attach to you drill? and how long did each task take you?

Thanks for all the positive feedback
Thanks I forgot that i used 80 grit to dig in there and then after wire brush i used 320 grit to smooth the surface out and get rid of minor imporfections. As for the hubcaps i just used 320 grit cause they were plastic and started to scratch the suface up and make it ugly, but unnoticable after painting.
the wire brush was a craftsman wire brush attachment. like the one in the middle of this line
time wise it took me about 2 1/2 hours to do. 1/2 an hour each wheel for taking off the paint. preping the sufaces were about 5-6 minutes each and the painting itseld was pretty long, waiting in between coats i cooked some lunch
As for the tints i forgot to mention that you needed to clean the windows and they took about 15 minutes to do each, it was my first time so it was a little long

The glass is easy enough to remove...why not just remove it, tint it, then put it back in? Atleast that way you can get further down than the seal so the tint doesnt get caught on it over time.

true. but what if u accidentally break the glass..that would hurts
Then go to the junkyard and get another. There can be all kinds of 'but what ifs' when working on a car. If you are hung up on 'but what ifs'...get rid of your car and ride a bike.
