Drivers Side Axle Seal - anyone done this?

New transmission is in, working fine - one problem - got a small drip drip from the drivers side axles (where the axle enters the diff)

Has anyone ever done this job? Thanks for the help!

haha...you're lucky it's not the passenger side half-shaft...THEN you'd have fun...

and yeah, easy job. just get the axle off the hub and then slide it out- you may need a pry bar to part it off the tranny, that's all. then replace seal and slide the axle back in

ummm...I don't quite remember....but I don't remember it being hard to take out

I think I used pliers to get the old one out. then just oiled up the new one and slipped it in...

i took my 97 camry to the shop y-day to get my CV driver side axle done it annoys me everyday when i drive all i hear when taking a turn is CLICK CLICK CLICK CLUNK CLUNK.... my mechanic jacked the car up and said my boot wasn't leaking so he'd be able to order me a new axle to get rid of the noise just to double check he took it out for a ride and just as he was making a left hand turn it broke in half. just my luck.. it took them an hr and half and two guys to pry the axle out but less then 10 min to put it all back together.

Again, Eye8, great advice - the old one popped out, the new one popped in - put 10miles on the car, and it stopped leaking...

It took me about 30minutes to remove the axle...thanks to kocho - who's write up (and pics) saved me a lot of time.

3rd Generation

I think I'm going to have to do this to my passenger side drive axle on a 95 camry (auto), got the axle for $70 new, is there a good write up with pics for this, I'm mechanically dangerous/inclined, but have never done one of these, doesn't look to bad though, did a search under kocho, and didn't find any write up, thanks guys/gals.
