3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I posted sometime ago about a broken line on my 93 Camry. Without going into detail, I was going to drop my tank to see where the line broke (it is on the top of the tank, not really visible or reachable. Someone suggested removing the backseat and accessing it from there.
I copied this from another thread and have a couple of questions:
1) what is the plate to the left of the top arrow?
2) what is the wire that appears to be coming from the center of the plate?
3) Is this where I would access to see the top of the fuel tank?
oh bloody hell, is that where the hard return line connects to? im replacing mine this weekend and assumed there was a threaded connection under the car close to the pressure line connection.
strum, feel like driving up to lakewood to assist with the install?

Lakewood? Damn we could almost yell to each other - I'm down in Aurora. I use to live in Lakewood off of Madison. I lived on Mars (I always liked saying that)
one is return and one is the pressurized send line I can't say I remember which is which now. it's pretty obvious once your take the plate off and see the pump on the hanger...
and I had to replace part of my hard lines with the soft fuel lines + clamps because my connectors were all seized

I think this is going to be a lot less expensive and painless than I originally thought - unless I blow myself up in the process of repair (note to self: don't use a bic lighter to look down into the fuel tank)
well, as long as you don't have to drop the tank, it shouldn't be too hard...
and personally, I'd cut up the entire sheet metal on the back seat if it meant I wouldn't have to drop the tank. I'd just use some aluminum or something to cover it up afterwards lol. afterall, the seat just goes over it anyway

when i first moved to lakewood i rented a place on mars! 2065 mars if my memory isnt failing.
I'm assuming that E8P and/or Ghettosled know which line is the return line?
I was hoping that I would see the break in the line at the opening, but no such luck.
I disconnected the line closest to the camera, but was unable to pull it out. So that is either not the line that is broken or it is clamped and will not move.
I'll have to put the car up on jack stands and see if I can figure out where the broken line is connected. I know for sure it's the return line that is broke, but since it broken somewhere near the top of the tank, I'm unable to actually see the location.
Any thoughts and/or ideas are greatly appreciated.
to the best of my knowledge, the line closest to the camera is the return line, as that is the low pressure fuel line...
and the best way to find out is to get the car up on jacks as you stated. Let us know how it goes.
I noted that when I disconnected that line it would not allow me to pull it out. Do you recall if you had that issue? Did you just fish a new line through and make other end connection underneath?
I'm not sure if I'm being clear, but hopefully you get what I am trying to say.
I was thinking about putting it up on ramps, but then I remembered I can't start it unless I want gas all over the garage floor.
