2001 4 cyl Camry Oil filter 90915-yzzd1 O.K.?

I have a 2001 Camry 4 cyl and was wondering if I could use the Toyota Oil Filters I have for my 6 Cyl Tacoma 90915-yZZd1 on the 4 Cylinder Camry O.K.?
I have a case of them.
Thanks

wrong fourm....a 2001 is a gen 4
the 2001 4 cyl camrys usually take a yzzf1 or yzzf2
a V6 takes a yzzd1
they will not fit...much too wide

What he said is correct. The 2001 Camry 4-cylinder calls for a YZZF2. The YZZF1 is a taller filter with the same base, that should fit fine.

D1/D3 filters are taller and wider and will not fit properly. They are meant mostly for V6/V8 applications, though they do have a few 4-cylinder applications (older 4-cylinders like the 22R and 3S-GTE, as well as some newer stuff like the RZ and TR series in the Tacoma).

I have been using the V6 sized filter (3614) equivelents from NAPA on my 4cyl for years now without any problems.

It's possible the mounting surface on the block is large enough to seal a V6 filter, but it is not the one called for, and it has a quite a bit larger mounting surface diameter.

You can give it a shot, for sure, but if it doesn't seal right, that will probably be why.

The filter mounting location on the 5S blocks are large enough to use that filter.
Dry the block and put a dab of oil around filter gasket, screw it on and take it off to see where the seal is made, and how close it is to the edge.
