Gen 3 Side Mirror Replacement Question

Hi,

The glass on my passenger side mirror cracked, but the actual shell of the mirror is still fine.

Is it possible to replace just the glass part? Or, do I have to replace the whole entire mirror?

If possible, how would one go about removing and installing just the glass?

Thanks in advance for your help!

check at the dealership and give them your VIN number. I'm not sure which ones are discontinued, but a lot of the gen3 side mirrors (glass only) are now not available anymore.

Your best chance, if that is the case, is to check out junkyards and ebay. Also, they have the cut-out stick on mirrors available, but they're no cheap either.

if you're looking in junkyards though, watch out and be careful, because there are about 5 different backing mounts for the mirrors (I'm still looking for a replacement for mine that I cracked).

To remove the mirror and backing plate, just get your finger behind the glass and give it a quick yank and it'll pop out

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a replacement mirror I bought on eBay. The paint is a totally different shade, so I just wanted to swap out the glass from the mirror.

I'll give it a try and hope that the backing plates are the same. Thanks again!
