i was wondering what would be better a basic ct 26 setup intercooled and tuned on 5 psi/ manual or a stock 1mz auto. the 5s will not be like nates just basic stuff. which would be faster? for sure the stock 1mz will be more reliable in the long run becasue its not on boost.

2nd question how much hp at the wheels can the 1mz tranny handle.

The 1mz will probably be faster with a manual. Put something other than a ct-26 on there and you will be able to squeeze a bit more power out of the 5s.

which transmission on the 1mz? If it's automatic no telling really, it will probably go unless you upgrade the valve body to handle more. Then it gets reliable.

The e153 5 speed is overbuilt, good luck breaking it before you break axles

man i wish i had a 5 speed manual tranny on my 5S-FE.
hope i can break my tranny one day and swap one in for my future 3S-GTE or something mwuahaha

id venture a guess they would be about the same, which sucks. do the 1mz and 5 speed it. a 5sfe on 5lbs wount touch a 5 speed V6. auto can actually handle safly about 250whp, but thats pushing it. redo the valve body and you can get quiet a bit more out of it. but a manual is the way to go hands down. i was gonn upgrade my auto but F that.

They would be the same if the 5s was at 5 psi. If it was 9psi or higher then it would probably be more powerful. But if your looking for a camry with good hp numbers then just turbo the 1mz, you will be able to get more hp then you ever could on the 5s.
