3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The description says that these lights will fit camry's 92-96. We all know that the tail lights from 92-94 are a bit different than the ones for 95-96. Has anybody tried these lights on their 3.5 gen. Also has anybody tried using the 92-94 depo red and clear tail lights on their 3.5 gen? I asked the seller about the fit and he has yet to respond. He also has an "all sales final" policy. I will post his response to this question here when I get it.
Also, if anybody has these lights on a gen 3, are these lights legal if used with an amber bulb for the blinker? I don't want any heat from the police. Any input is highly appreciated.
the only differance in the 3 and 3.5 is look. they are built exactly the same. no worries about bulb color, the stock ones use amber so an amber bulb will be fine.
I have the clear gen 3 tails on my car. fit fine, the only problem is there is a curve in on the bottom of the lamps. the 3.5 doesnt have as deep of one. Solutions are find a gen 3 center panel so u dont have the lip, or just live with it.
Hears a pic for you to c the lip, its not bad. But I personally cant take it.
BTW, if you do decide to get the center panel get it from a junkyard/salvage yard. They are way too over priced for brand new, between 400 and 500. Also I dont think that my lights are legal, but with the colored bulbs i have in there I have had no problems with the police, had two police follow me on my way this morning to get a cone air filter, and bulbs with light covers, nothing from them.
That's funny, I've got a '92 (gen 3) and I want to go from yellow marker lenses to clear ones. Where can
I get them or what model/year were they offered? On an all black car, I just think that clear lenses will
look a little classier than yellow.
I'm starting an exterior restoration of my '92 V6 LE. It's staying black, and I'm committed to doing the
best paint and body work I possibly can. It won't be cheap but I'm using top quality stuff.

I bought these and could not live with the gap. I found a used center panel from a Gen3 XLE and installed it along with the wiring harness to support the xtra lights in the center panel. My car looked alot older than it was, so I took all of it off and sold it. I thought about painting the Gen3 XLE panel to match the car, but them I would not have any reverse lights.
As far as the blub socket not fitting, I had to turn it around a couple time to find the right slots for it to fit.

shaving and painting the pannel is the best look IMO, but u just have to block off some of the space around the reverse lights so you actually have them. since they are as squared big as they are, you can make cool designs, like circles or ovals or a rabbit.
I'm getting a black panel from SE or DX from eyeball96. Since my car is black it would blend better. It's all about how you personally want your car to look like. If you want the lights, go for it. Like I wanted the clear lights, so I adapted the car so it would get rid of the lip.

Look here for an example of what it would look like painted. This is what I had on before Idid my conversion. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/819181/4
Still had reverse lights and the brake light right there. I don't understand how there would be more lights in my gen3 there is only the reverse and one break light on each side in the center. That should be the same as the gen3.5 or else they wouldn't put that little light on each side of the center panel.
