3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I decided to do some suspension upgrades to the wife's car since it feels like a freakin boat to me (taking into consideration the shocks/struts are blown and I drive/driven all my cars with coil-overs)! I already purchased GR-2s for the car and changed out the fronts, but now decided I want to swap in some springs to where she'll be comfortable and not bang the hell out of the crossmember. So after doing some searching, it seems like the Eibach, H-Techs, and H&R OEs are the best candidates. I'm just looking for a inch drop with a BIT stiffer spring. Would appreciate hearing from you guys that may be running any of these springs with the GR-2s, regarding comfort level. Cosmetically, I'm not that concerned as I'm just going to probably look for some 16" stocks from another Toyota.
I was also wondering if you guys are swapping out your FSB bushings and endlinks for poly bushings and if so, could provide a part number for me. I know many people come across universal ones that happen to fit a particular car.
As far the rear, I know how much of a difference a RSB can make! Any preferences between the Whiteline and TRD?
i like the eibachs and teins. teins are staggared and even out the fenders which i like. i have H-techs on mine and like em but wish there was more of a drop sometimes. others im glad there isnt.

Do you have any side profile shots of your car? I'd like to see what it looks like. What struts are you riding on and how do you like the ride?
These are also a bit less of a drop than the Eibachs, correct?
i use to have h-techs and gr2s and they were pretty comfortable.. ride quality was better IMO because the springs are stiffer than stock - alot less boaty feel without having to feel every crack or stones on the road.
also- 17" none-lip wheels would definetly finish off the cars' look. Just please don't make any - " which rim to buy " thread. LOL

I'm glad you mentioned ride quality, because it's my main purpose of swapping the springs. Looks like I'm convinced with the H-Techs, especially since I found them for under $200 brand new!
And as far as wheels, which rim do you think I should buy?
I actually just found a set of 15" Avalon steelies with some nice hubcaps for $65! Might pick that up.
HAHA! I'm not trying to "G" up her ride, just looking for a sportier ride. I'm really trying to budget myself at $350 TOPS, which would be including both wheels and tires. Looks like my best bet right now would be some 16" steelies from the new Camry's, although I'm really diggin the Avalon wheels.

She's very oblivious to car mods, although she definitely felt the difference after I put in the new GR-2s in the front. But then again, the car felt like a freakin lowrider so it was pretty obvious!
On a sidenote, I came across these puppies on Craigslist for $65...
Thinking of just picking these up and throwing on some 205/60/15 or 215/60/15 (still debating) 912s and calling it a day. Was looking at prices for 16" tires and they're over $300. Just not trying to spend that much.
Kinda strapped for cash now, ugh...man do what u can afford "right now"
My wife is obivious to car mods too, and won't let me touch her Accord, but its tough to keep her from driving my 94 Coupe...the 14 Y/o car drives, and handles better than her 04 Accord, with its minor suspension mods.
Show u wife that pic of Bigbirds Gen 4 and see what she thinks
