Can Toyota make me a key from my VIN?

From my 92 Camry? My cousin someone lost the key and the ignition key on the car has no teeth. I need to be able to lock the car up, what are my options?

Thanks for any advice.

Billy

I went to Toyota and had them cut a new key from my vin# but it didn't work on the doors. My only key didn't open the door because it was so worn down but they somehow cut a new key from my old key and it now opens everything They made 2 copies and gave them to me at no charge. The guy liked my car so he said it was on the house

Yes, they are supposed to be able to order one from the VIN, assuming you have the factory original locks on the car. Obviously if a lock has ever been replace, say after an accident, then it won't match with the VIN. I took a key to the dealer recently. It was $5 to make a copy or $10 to have them order a new one from the VIN. The guy told me he'd cut one, and if it didn't work he'd order from the VIN and put my $5 from the one he cut toward the new one. The one he cut worked, so we didn't have to try to order from the VIN.

My suggestion would be to invest in a remote Lock/Alarm system. Might be a little pricie to get and install at first, but in the long run will be worth it. I have the stock one that came with my XLE, and all but my trunk locks have been replaces, the key works if you jiggle it a little on the doors, but the key fob is just nice to walk up to the car and unlock it with no problem, until the button dies, which has not happened to me nor the previous owner (my dad). Also batteries are nothing rly, only replaced them once in one of the two remotes we have.

Good Luck!

The dealer will do it. Just make sure you bring your registration with you when you go get it done, otherwise they won't do it.
