Not sure how to reset the alarm. I have the same system in my 97. The red button on the dash is for vale parking. Normal it is out and not lit.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery or pull the EFI fuse for a minute or so. This will reset all the electronics.

Good luck

yes, I have tried disconnecting batterr and EFI but no luck yet.when I insert the key turn the switch, alarm goes crazy, and car wont start.then I press the alarm button on dashboard (red) alarm shuts down but car still wont start.I have found different programming codes for diferrent models (avalon, 4 runner etc) but nothing for 97 camry and those did not work.
dealer tells me to tow it to them so that they can program.they have no mercy, towing would cost hundreds and not to mention programming.
anyone can help?

Are you sure the battery is not dead?
If the battery is really low, when you turn the key, voltage drops, the alarm will come on.
Try jumpstarting as a test.

Camry Alarm Reset

After disconnecting the battery, alarm wouldn't stop ringing and car wouldn't start even after trying to jump. AAA mechanic came and overrode alarm system by "lock driver door with key, unlock two times with key, put key in ignition and push the red alarm button. This should deactivate the alarm".
