THUD over bumpers

hi - for a while now, when my car goes over even average-size bumpers, at crawling-slow speeds sometimes, i'll hear a resounding THUD coming from the undercarriage of the car (its completely stock right now). we asked a mechanic at the dealer about it and he said everything under there was fine.

now that i'm actually going to mod it a little, one of my goals is get new springs and struts, which will lower it slightly.

my question is ... do any of you know what could be causing this sound ? i really don't think its ordinary, and im not sure lowering will help

Check the end links of the front stabilizer bar. I recently bought a 98 Camry and somebody had replaced one of the end links with one that was too long. Make sure the bottom of the endlinks are not in contact with the lower control arm. That would be causing a thud.

Also, Push down on all the corners of your car when it is parked and see if you can hear which wheel the thud is coming from. If it does it over small bumps at low speed then it should do it from you pushing down on the car.

got the same thing in the back of a camry i just picked up... also one of the stabilzer bars up front aint even hooked up... they will make loud thuds when out so check them for play
