3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok i know this has nothing to do with cmary's but i was wondering how do you debadge a camry meaning remove the Camry and Toyota Badges on like the trunk lid adn stuff, is there any special tools/materials that i need to do it myself
depends how they are attached. the T is held in with 3 studs so if u plan on removing that ull ahve to fill the holes. teh others are mostly held on by trim tape. if so then jsut heat it up a littel with a hair dryer and then scrape from the back with a credit card or somthine like that. then use goo gone to remove eh adhesive left behind.
Blow dryer, an old credit card of some type and patience. As for the residue left behind? I just wet my thumb and rubbed it until it was all gone. kind of like eraser shavings. It works but it will give you blisters and I am sure the goo gone is a much better option.

Except for those extra holes for the locating pins, of course. How are you dealing with them? Plan to keep them there, or fill them and paint over, or install brand new ones?
Part of my restoration on my '92 included removing the badges, of course. But I've got brand new ones
to put back on. They're not very expensive.

I kept the Toyota badge in the middle so the back end would not be compleatly empty. Everything else is gone though.
Same here. I took the "Toyota," "Camry," and "LE" badges off but left the Toyota emblem on since that one has pin holes if you were to remove it. You can fill the holes in and paint over them, but it might not come out that well..
The Camry is a car that I can rip out someone's pride, stab it, beat it, and completely bash their egos, and it's so ridiculous that the person comes back with a hysterical laugh... ROFL They got trainlengthed by a Camry that in their mind, was a 18 sec car.
Simple steps to debadging your car are:
1. Heat up area with a hair dryer or heat gun.
2. Use thread, floss, CD, or credit card to separate badge from the paint.
3. Use adhesive remover like goo gone to remove left over adhesive.
4. Wash car, or if you're lazy just area you worked on.
5. If paint isn't smooth where badges were removed, clay bar and wax area.
If you want to debadge, I would do it as soon as I get the car. On my black Camry, I waited like 5 years before I debadged and the paint around it was kinda faded, so when I debadged, you can see a ghost imprint of the badges.
