3rd Generation Fog light help

ok so i got a foglight kit from pilot and they are very nice. the only prob is that they come with a wired remote that u put in ur car to turn them on and off and to control the color neon angel ring that goes around the fog light. my question is the purple and black cord that power the remote are asked to be connected to a "switched" power source. i.e break light, dash light, ect.... it doesnt make sence so my remote doesnt work for the time being until i can get it figured out right now the wires are connected directly to my parking light bulbs. so when my parking lights turn on, the fog/driving lights turn on.... anyone have any ideas what i connect the purple and black wires to to get the remote working properly? any ideas?

Chris
