Swapped motors, now trans wont shift!!

What a weekend, I have been swapping my 99 camry 4 banger motor because it lost a rod. I get it all done and go to pull out of the garage and nothing. The trans recognizes park, which I think is mechanical. But it wont go into any drive gear. I have checked fluids, re-drained and filled the tranny with new md3 trans fluid. And checked all my connections. I only had 4 plugs on the tranny, the speed sensor on the back, and the three on the front under the airbox. I tried putting it in gear and playing with the linkage for the cable and still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions before I get out the gas and a match?

Someone posted a very similar problem a while ago and it was the tranny oil pump or something that got damaged due to improper re-installation.

I'm gonna try to find the thread

Semi good news, this might be your problem, but it's gonna cost you a headache or another tranny...

Oh crap.

Nice link thanks for the info. When I installed the converter I spun it around until it seated down in the trans. However I did not look at the end of the converter and spline it with the pump. I fell the converter felt like it installed correctly, but the way to test it is to pull the cooler lines and see if it is pumping. I will let you know...

Welp, no fluid out of the lines, time to pull the tranny, must have missed the pump.

No problem, I know his car was a 3VZ V6 engine, but this might just be what happened to you too.

Keep us posted
