The damages 04/22 RIP
So here's the story. I am driving home from a long day at work, heading east on 92 (Bay Area hwy). My speed is about 20-30mph slowing down to take an offramp and I suddenly see a 94 Corolla coming at me at least 50-70mph. I slightly vier right so that the driver can notice me, and I stiffen up just in case he hits me. BOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!! uuuuuggggghhhhh We both come to a stop and traffic builds up. I came out fine with maybe little back and neck ache and the Corolla driver with cuts on his face from his air bag. So what happened? probably will never know but I believe he fell asleep because he still managed to hit me and I heard no screeching brakes... at all. He was confused and said someone must have bumped him but there was no traffic, odd since it was 6pm right before the 880 junction.
So hear I am... alive and well. Can't be any happier that neither of us were hurt and that no one else was in my car. About 4 months back I got rear ended by another car going about 15-20 and barely pushed in my bumper. I had my wife, 3yr old, and brother-in-law and we had the typical neck ache.
I'm waiting for AAA (other party) to evaluate the damages and send me their cost of replacing. It will probably be $4000-5000 since my car is a 95 DX 4cyl with over 230,000 miles (on the original tranny). My rental from Herzt is a 2008 Camry SE 4cyl, which I'm liking a lot. So it could be my next buy but with an upgrade to a 6cyl and definitely the SE in silver (looks sexy), or an Audi 2005 A4 Avant turbo wagon (looks sexy too).
I'll get back with the final outcome regarding the claim and my choice for a new ride. I will check in once in a while since I've been a Camry forum lurker since the days of Camryman.org. I've learned a lot from the forums, met people at one Berkeley meet, and made my Camry how it was through everyone here. I have thought my car to be very original looking and great looking, but I miss it now.
I'm sorry for your lost, but the important thing to remember here is that no one got severely hurt. Life moves on, and I suggest either getting a brand new car, or finding another gen 3.

sorry for your loss, i was worried when i saw the stroller in the back but Im glad your child was out of harms way and that you werent seriously injured
Well there is no question there....damage to the value of the car is too high. I'm sorry it happened. There anything salvage able to put on your new car? Or did the accident take it all from you, like your back wheels?

some of them bay area people drive are scary.. always keep an eye open and leave enough room in between the car a head.. even if that mean leave enough room for the people who like to squeeze there car in..
anyways glad to see you came out fine..
