No spark

Hi everybody,
One friend of mine has a problem with his Camry ('94, 2.2L)
There is no spark coming from the coil. The coil gets +12V when the engine is cranking, but there is no spark. We changed the old coil with a new one and still no spark. Old coil had 3kohmi resistance between the high voltage outlet and the (-) or (+) screw, and the new one had 13kohmi. Both coils had the same resistance (a few ohms) between the (+) and (-) screws.
We also took the distributor cap off and verify the existence of high voltage directly at the coil...Nothing!
Does anybody have any ideea of what can cause this lack of spark?
Thanks for any hepl!

Make sure the distributor rotor is turning OK. The wires between the distributor, igniter, ECU, etc are OK.

Resistance between the + and - coil terminals should be 0.36-0.55 ohm cold. Between the + terminal and high tension terminal 9.0-15.4K ohms cold.

Remove the high tension wire from the distributor, hold near a chassis ground then crank engine and check for spark.

The coil + terminal should have 12V when ign switch on. Make sure the - ground is OK.

Check the plug wires resistance, should be a max of 25K ohm.

Check distributor pickup coils. G1-G 125-200 ohm, G2-G same, NE-G 155-200 ohm cold. G = ground, The terminal order is G, G2, G1, NE left to right when looking down at the cap.

Thank you for your reply!
Where are the distributor pickup coils? In case they are bad can they be replaced separately, or there is one module that has all the coils on it?
Thanks

When you turn the key to "on" the dash indicator lights come on to show that they are working. The Check Engine Light should come on. If it doesn't post back. Also check the EFI relay and fuse.

I couldn't go there today to check the pickup coils' resistance or the dash ligth, but my friend just installed a new distributor and he still has no spark.
Kep, what is the EFI relay and how can it be checked? By listening to it?
The fuses were ok yesterday.

Is this a California emissions (check under hood for sticker that may read "CALIF")?

Power to the coil does not run through a relay, if the + terminal of the coil has 12V DC the relay the AM2 fuse should be OK.

Check the CEL light coming on with the other indicator lights when you turn the key on first. If it lights up you don't need to track down the relay. Open the engine compartment fuse box and look inside the lid. I believe it is identified.

The "check engine" light turns on when you turn the key. The car is in CT. I do not believe it is California emission (I didn't see the sticker).
My friend tried a new ignitor and another computer (old). Nothing showed results! As the last resort we are going to tow it to a garage these days. Maybe they know better...
Thank you everybody for your help!
