Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
anyone tried the ones on ebay (or someplace else?) i know one place had bad rap for super cheapo stuff that didnt fit, another had pretty good marks, just figured it would be a good way to get my limo tints done without paying 400 bucks for a retint job...
judging from many responses i have seen before, don't do it unless you have something to practice on a few times before and have a lot of extra and patience. just cash out the money and get it done right
I bought the rear window pre-cut tint for the 96 from Ebay..I figured I'd attempt the hardest first, knowing the sides would be a piece of cake. I even got the wife to help me out alittle.
I could never get the bubbles out of it, finally toss it in the trash, waste of money. I did manage to install alot of glue on the rear window that was a bitch to get off tho.
Had the tint done later by a professional, but it sure wasn't 400 bucks.

Very hard to put on (much harder than those videos) and poor tint quality in most cases.
I'd let the professionals do it!
and no, it shouldn't cost you 400!
Have it done at a reputable shop. I've seen a lot of cars with bad tint jobs and the bottom line is that a bad tint job looks worse than no tint job. No joy in spending money and having your car look worse.
I had both my Camrys done in the past year. After watching them install the back window tint on both cars, I'd say the chances of the average untrained person getting that right the first time they tried it are about zero. There's a lot of technique involved.
Pricewise it ran right around $200 for both my Camrys. They were both untinted to start. I don't know what they would charge if they had to remove old tint before the install.

Mix some water with ammonia (or any other cleaning agent with ammonia in it) in a spray bottle and jus spray it down, should come off pretty well. if all else fails rubbing alcohol. but it can be a pain.
I've seen many many horrible tint jobs on the back window, bubbles galore. I'd get a professional to do it right the first time as well.
dont know about you but its 140 round here for a tint job and they use quality tint and do quality work. if anyone is charging ya 400, the dont want to do the work.
I HAVE used precut tint....but not on my Camry, rather for my Armada. I bought from Ebay, the tint quality is good (so far in years), and the fit is also very good. Clearly the end result is only as good as the person doing the job. If you have no tinting experience, pass....like others have said, have a pro do it. Sides are semi easy for me, but I wouldn't do the rear window on a Camry. It's too concave, plus hard to get the tolls where you need to. My $.02.

I'm the biggest boss thatchu seen thus far! Baby, that's muh wi'zzard!
yeah i bought the whole set off ebay, some buyers have a program that if you messed up the first time you can get it replaced FREE, but don't know how it works out yet. Oh yeah i did try to tint my 4 door it looks great perfect cut but it's pretty hard to do the back rear. i recommend to get a pro for the back if you're going to tint it yourself

Reason: back rear
well for mine its about 120 to 250 depending on the shop to tint, and most want another 100 or so to take off the old tint, plus a couple of the better shops using the better tints have an upcharge for using limo. the local guy who does all the show cars in the area wants around 400 for the whole car, and thats his normal charge...soooooooo anywho i guess once the 'stimulus check' gets here, and i pay off what needs to be paid off, and pay for the next leg of the wifes school ill try and find someone to retint for 200 or else ill remove it and just let them tint it...
thanks for the imput everyone... its still great to come here for the great people
I got my 4 door camry done for $100 (after talking them down a bit) and the quality was excellent and over a year with it and no bubbles and still looking hot!!!
