99 v6 idle problem - intermittent
This has happened about 4-5 times in the last 6-7 months. These few times, when you start it, it will not idle. The car will run, but if you take your foot off it, it will just die. You can keep it at a few K rpm's it keeps running. Let it sit for a while (several hours or overnight), try it again and it's fine for weeks on end. The last time (just this week) when it did it, we tried the 'let it sit' thing, and we it again, only this time instead of dying, it would idle at about 2K rpm. So we let it sit again, tried and it's fine.
Any ideas? How do you troubleshoot something this intermittent? What controls the idle speed?
