Bubbles in Coolant; 92 Camry V6

I have drained the coolant a few times doing some hose replacing, like on the heater core and such. I know at first thought, yeh their is gonna be air in the system, so you let it out by keeping the remote pitcock(near the timing cover) off to let the air out.

How long should it bubble air out of the system?

Id say I ran it a good 7 min and it was still bubbling a little bit:
-No coolant smell from exhaust
-doesn't run bad
-no water in the oil
-Coolant doesnt mysteriously disappear (use to but that was a loose thermostat bolt problem)
-No coolant in the intake plenum

I know mostly about gm vehicles, not toyotas. Maybe the same principal, but reading the forums, some things are not the norm.

Could I have a blown intake or plenum gasket? Could the IAC be leaking it?

Is their any tests I can do to check for certain what it could be?

Robert

Suggest putting the radiator cap on, overfilling the radiator overflow tank, turn the heater control full hot and drive the car. The system will bleed itself and the excess coolant in the tank returned to the system.

I don't think you have anything out of the ordinary in your system. If it bubbles for awhile, thats alright as long as you're not boiling the coolant and overpressurizing the system.Usually, when I bleed the coolant in a system, I have the front on ramps, leave the cap off, and all the other little tricks to getting air out of the system, so when I do run the car it only bubbles once or twice, but I've had some hard to bleed cars where it takes a day or so of driving to get it all out. As long as you don't blow all the coolant out of the resivoir, you don't overheat, and you top off the coolant as necessary, it sounds like you're fine.

Oh please.

When was the last time you had the thermostat and radiator caps replaced? I've had that and the radiator replaced on my cam and my coolant still bubbles after driving... The only thing that we can think of is a pinhole leak in the headgasket, but I hope that isn't the case for you.

Good, one less of a problem. thanks.

I must say, it's agrivating to get that coolant control box to work right. Im not sure what actuates it to close off. I thought the inside cold/hot switch did it but it doesn't seem to move it. Instead of buying the hose from toyota, I made my own from some joints. As usual with newer cars, everything is in the way. It's like going around your elbow to get to your hand type of stuff. I do like the car for sure though. I have lots to relearn about cars.

The engine was rebuilt by the guy that I bought it from about 800 miles ago. I hope it's not a pinsize hole or something, good grief. My worst nitemare is dealing with a head gasket or intake problem.

Been fine tuning the TV cable, think I got it just right almost. I know that if you make it too loose, the tranny wont have enough pressure to move much at first after sitting an hr or so. I need to get a tranny guy to look at it, see if he can figure out why my 1st to 2nd shift is more abrupt than usual. He said might be some gunk in the pinsize hole on the valve body? that regulates the 1st-2nd shift. Tried some lubeguard but I dont know if it made a difference. Shifts fairly smooth in other gears.
