3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Alright...so Im out looking at my car and took some pictures so I could ask a few questions.
First, does anyone know what this is? (seems like someone else posted this a while back but I couldnt remember for sure)
..and this is where the wire goes through the firewall...(cant tell where it goes inside the car)
Second, does anyone know why I would only have the 1 fuse in the engine bay fuse box?
Third, is this the EGR valve on my 3vz-fe? (the factory manual and chilton manual I have dont cover the 3vz-fe very much )
Fourth, what is that shiny looking round thing? It almost looks like something is missing from there. (and I know I need to replace valve cover gaskets..its on my to do list)
Fifth, does anyone know where this should plug in at? It's located down by the oil filter and oil pressure sending unit. It's in the same harness as the oil pressure sending unit connector is. I just happened to see it while I was looking for the leak around my filter.
Sixth, does anyone have a couple extra knobs laying about that they would sell me? Went to 2 yards today and of the 7 camrys I looked in..NONE had the knobs!
Same goes for this piece! If anyone has one and would like to sell it..lemme know!

I have the tan interior....if thats the right name for it. And its the front passenger door.
Thanks!
And even though you just bought one, I was still looking for a lip spoiler at the yards. I kinda want one now! This is the only one I found though. It was off a coupe.

the first could be a few things....do you have an aftermarket temp gauge? is there an underhood light? if you have an underhood light it is the sensor that allows it obnly to come on when the hood is up
the third is definitly your EGR valve....pretty much the same placement as the 1mz-fe engines
fourth looks almost like a freeze plug, but i dont know so feel free to correct me if im wrong
In picture 1 that is a switch that tells either an aftermarket alarm or remote start setup that the hood is open.
Yes that is the EGR valve
as for the empty fuse box my 92 v6 is just like that.
And picture 5 is an overheat indicator, your engine has been replaced at some point of the cars life. If the engine overheats it will melt and that way the company that offers a warranty on the engine can tell if it has not been maintained.
the conector in picture 6 doesn't go anywhere on my car either so id just leave it

Yes, the engine has been replaced at one point. But how can you tell its been replaced? Should there be something in front of that shiny piece to show that it hasnt overheated?
