V6 Brakes ... Why ?

hi - i'm planning on getting some bigger wheels for my 5sfe and i was wondering ... ive been reading that wheels from lexus cars would require a v6 brake swap on 4 cylinder camrys, but what's the deal with wheels from other companies (non-oem) ? is there something distinctive about lexus wheels that they require v6 brakes ? like would wheels from a company like mb or enkei or something require that extra brake clearance provided by the v6 brakes ? thanks much ...

add pair 5mm spacer from H&R should fix the rubbing rear struts tower issue.

My '00 LE 4 cyl. has factory brakes and for IS300 17" wheels there are no fitment problems due to the brakes. With the right tire brand, you will not even need spacers, with other brands you *will* need 5 mm on the rear to clear the struts, and on the front you *may* have rubbing at the wheel well at full turn of the steering wheel. I later put V6 rear disks on my Camry and again, not fit issues due to brakes. I should say though that my particular year-model-trim seems to come with the larger brakes similar/same as the V6 model on the front from the factory, unlike the CE mode, which has about 10mm or so (forgot exactly) smaller disks and different pads, may be different calipers too in the front. Not sure if these CEs may have issues or not.

No idea about the 16" IS300 wheels though...
