Crummy stock antenna
I am about to put a system in my car (once I can afford the installation supplies and have some free time), but i've always had problems with the antenna on my car.
It's a '96, and I don't know if all the Camrys in '96 came with this antenna, but it pokes out of the A pillar or whatever right above my head. It's only about 8 inches long, and it's at a funny angle. It can't pick up anything.
Right now I have an aftermarket head unit in the car which isn't really that great, but works for me right now. I can't pick up a radio station full strength unless it's close to the tower. Otherwise it comes in all choppy and intermittent.
Now I know wiring for an antenna is a bitch, because one of my friends used to work at Toyota, and had to re-wire antennas in corollas ... apparently there was a bad batch.
I'm not too worried about taking the interior apart, i've had a couple interiors apart before, but I don't know what antenna to buy, or what style, or where I should put it. Maybe I should just wrap a coat hanger around the one I have :P
Thoughts?
