Australia More power from the 5SFE?

Hi guys let me say great site for starters. I have gained a heap of knowledge here and for that i want to say thanks. It's a great resource.

My question is, how do i make some gains in 400 mt time. I've read turbo etc. I'm wondering what else you can do for starters. Do the chips work as advertised if you have cold air induction? What should be the first things i'm doing in the engine bay? Any help much appreciated and again cheers

Kelly

I'm no expert, but you can balance&blueprint, port&polish, maybe bore out the cylinders a bit to increase displacement, use stonger rods and pistons, which would allow more boost, play with the ECM's fuel maps or ignition timing. There is also a procedure called "kinfe edge," in which the counter weights of the crank shaft are shrpend to reduce the rotating mass, and allow the crank shaft to spin up more quickly. However, if you're going to dump all that money into a 5s, why not just get a better motor (V6 or a 3sgte swap).

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah i have considered the 3sgte as an option. Looks like that will be the way to go.

Cheers.

the 5sfe is near hopeless sorry to say, but then again that depends on what gains your lookin for. modest gains can be had from a FULL exhaust including headers, intake and maby some tuning. but for real power its turbo or nothing and thats still a tall order. the best remidy for improving the 5sfe is the 1mzfe(or 3vz) or 3sgte.

3SGTE is an excellent engine. Here's a link for one if you're interested: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-3...m380023222753&

but the swap is a pain in the ass from what ive seen. custom mounts and other bits. where as the v6 swap you jsut need to get bits from the v6 models.
