1999 Camry dash cluster bulbs change question

Hi

I dismantled the dash cluster and replaced the green-sheathed 914 bulbs with blue-sheathed bulbs. After turning it on the cluster still look a but greenish although it is brighter.

Is there something else that I have to take out from inside the cluster to enable the blue bilbs to shine thru as white

I have a feeling there is a thin green filter layer inside gauge faces. I had the same experience.

^^Really? I took the green covers off the bulbs and mine was the same color as the bulbs, no green tint at all. I have the 2000 Camry LE by the way. Maybe there was a difference between the different generations

If I install LEDs (8500K) I do get a nice white (purplish tint) light in the dash. If I put in standard 194s or 168s without covers, I get no green tint at all either.

It's when I put in the Superwhite bulbs, I still get a still greennish tint. However, if I look very closely at the needles, it's actually white. The gauge faces have the slight greenish tint.
