It became my habit to throw in N whenever i know that i have to decelerate ( stop sign ahead ). I did some reading about this and this is what i found:

Pro : I notice that cutting transmittion from the engine will spare brake, you also get to rest the foot at stop sign ( not recommended on hill terrain ).

It's logical to believe that letting the car "float" to rest will save gas (all stick driver do that).

Con: THEY said that doing so will produce heavy wear on tranny ... noway to confirm.

Any idea about this ?

about shifting to neutral ... i'd say its helpful sometimes. like if youre going 70 on a highway or something and reach a long downward-sloping hill ... you might as well shift to neutral and drop the tach to <2k; youll maintain speed and drop your rpm

I found that shifting into neutral at stoplights did show a reduction of fuel use ( L/hr) because the engine is running accessories like heat blower, lights, defog, radio etc but not the Torque converter.
