3rd Generation Issues with 94' Camry V6'- Solid Oil under Cap!?

Hi Guys,
I have a 94' Camry XLE V6' with approximately 159,000 miles. Today i just popped the hood to just do a general check on oil level, transmission fluid, coolant level etc. and when i opened the oil cam to see the oil i saw a large flat cover of solid oil underneath- no running liquid oil. I was suprised and im kinda wondering if this is normal? Is their something wrong? I know im 600 miles over the oil change mileage and my oil levels are at full so i dont know if this is an issue or not?
thanks guys!

You mean the oil cap? As far as I know that's normal. There is a baffle right underneath the oil cap, oil evaporates there, and solidifies.

I don't like it because you can't pour in oil quickly, and you can't look through the oil cap to see the condition of the engine.

Yeah the baffle right under the oil cap on those darn things always looks terrible.

I bet you that weird baked on coating would appear even synthetic oil.

See the intake for the PCV system enters right above that spot on the valve cover. So it's a perfect stagnation point for crankcase gases. 99% of the oil droplets and such from the crankcase probably get sucked down by the PCV valve. You're seeing the 1% that just kind of hovers and then settles on that little ledge of metal.

Uncleanable, too.

You're one of us now. The filler cap bafflement is the initiation ritual.
