3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
i change it around 3500-4500 miles, and ive driven it to 5500 miles on it... but every oil change i run an oil flush additive thru it every time so all my oil burning problems have ceased to exist.
back in the day- when i use to live in the phillippines.. my dad would only do oil changes on his corolla (hotchi) twice a year.. and traffic was a bitch in that place to and the car ran fine.. 100 miles- i wouldn't worry about it.
me personally.. i run castrol syntec so i push it to 4k intervals-
I use XD-3 0W 40 or Delvac 1300 ( will be Scheaffers 15W 40 this summer) and change filter at 5000 km intervals, and will use the oil at least 10,000 km before change.

I always change mine around 3000-3500 miles after the previous one with Castrol Syntec high mileage, because I feel that my driving is harsh enough that a shorter oil change interval is beneficial (and I'm not paying for the oil...). But before I was the one driving my car, my dad hardly ever changed the oil. I would guess he might go 7000+miles sometimes, and just get the cheap oil they normally give you at a cheap oil change place. He did that for about 120,000 miles, and the car seems to be running fine at 167,000 miles right now (aside from the coolant leak from a freeze plug and losing a quart of oil every 3000 miles).
i just accidentally went 6k miles. it was one of those days i was just driving along enjoying the nice weather and thought "its finally nice outside. i hate working on the cars in the cold. when was the last time i worked on the cars in the cold... oh SH&#, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I CHANGED MY OIL!?!"
on a side note, my co-worker was a traveling salesperson. he said since his company gave him a new car either every 3 years or 40k miles, he would literally change the oil only once in that time span.
change my out from 500 - 900 miles before it reaches the 3000 mile mark.. longest i went without changing oil was a bit over 3000 miles..

I change oil and filter every 5000km (3000mi) religiously...on all of my cars using Castrol GTX oil and Toyota filters.
My friend runs a furnace company and he never changes the oil in his company trucks...not even the filters. Some have gone 200,000km or more without an oil change (seriously)...he figures that they leak so much oil, that it just changes itself. All the trucks have 400 - 500,000km plus on the clock and they all leak about a quart every 3 days. He's never even changed the plugs in any of them. I always bug him about it...his private cars get nothing but the best though.

i use Q synthetic and PureOne filters from my place of employment, advance..lol
i pushed 4000 mi at the msot and will never do it again..oil change intervals are religious for me and my family, and my dad scolded the hell out of me, sayin it was bad for my motor blahblah blah...when i told him all i ran was synthetic and lucas, he told me i was wasting my money..

Bah! They tell us it's 3000 mi so we buy more oil. You are wasting your money, synthetic can easily do double that amount. Distance is not as important as driving conditions anyways. Winter driving and short trips shortens the lifespan more.
Your friend who never changes the oil or spark plugs is the man.
