CV joints or Intermediate Steering Shaft

I have a steering sound that sounds like it could be intermediate steering shaft, or maybe the CV joints.
96 Toyota camry 100k miles goes cluck cluck cluck cluck sometimes when turning.

is most loud when: While stopped, steering wheel is turned hard (R or L), and upon acceleration, the clucking starts.

no noticeable clicking when turning the wheel hard when car is not moving.

Trying to find out what this is, because if it is the CV, I might as well get axle/cv when I do the struts soon. Thank you for your help, i really appreciate it

A steering column problem would occur when the steering wheel is turned.

Make a few left and right hand 90-degree turns at slower speeds, if the noise occurs check the joint opposite the direction of turn. If the clunk noise occurs upon acceleration typically this is a CV joint.

Classic CV joint noise when they begin to wear out. You don't need to replace it immediately, it will gradually get more annoying but I've never heard of one breaking (people can't stand the noise and replace them before they wear out too much).
