95 camry, throttle stuck, constant accel

I got this camry used and in pretty good condition with only 93k miles on it. Recently I have gone to break at a stop light and felt the car struggling against me, and then it goes into a high rev acceleration when my foot is not even on the gas. I figured out the mechanical throttle was sticking so I moved it around a bit and sprayed it with some WD-40. It then drove as normal as it did before, but some 300 miles later the same problem occurred. In an effort to save myself from rear ending the car infront of me, I put it in neutral hoping it would rev but still coast. Instead the car slams to a complete stop.

My guess is that the engine heat dried up the WD-40 causing the throttle to stick again. Is there any lube that will withstand the heat? Is my transmission alright?

thanks

Try cleaning the inside of the throttle body with a spray type throttle cleaner. Use a cleaner that is 02 sensor, CAT and plastic safe.

Do a search on "Seafoam"...then go for it! That would certainly help clean up the TB.

should I be worried about the transmission?
When I looked under hood the actually mechanics of the throttle were stuck forward, does this mean there is something inside the throttle body causing it, or is the outside not lubed enough.

Remove the throttle cable (easy job) then rotate the throttle pulley and feel for binding.

Remove the large air intake hose to the throttle body and you can then see the throttle plate.

Also if the car has cruise control, the throttle cable goes from the pedal to the cruise control device then another cable goes to the throttle body. Check that none of the cables or the cruise control device is causing the binding issue.
