For those with the S2K antenna mod...

I am getting all the parts ready to do the mod myself, and when I went to Honda today to pick up my antenna, I noticed a CRV (current year model)'s antenna. It has a grounding wire wrapped through it. I know from past experience that that extra ground can improve radio reception. I didn't know if anyone has tried that antenna or a VW antenna. I am concerned about AM radio reception as I listen to talk radio. Any input on this would be great!!

Thanks in advance!

Can't tell you. I haven't noticed any loss in reception with the S2000, AM or FM, but I listen to CDs/MP3s a lot more than I do the radio so I'm probably not a good reference. Everyone I've ever heard comment on it said the S2000 reception was as good as the stock antenna.

I had the S2K antenna on my tC but switched to the Element's antenna as it's slightly longer and cheaper.

^^ Yea I ended up buying the Element antenna instead of the S2000 because of the little extra length after I read your post on the DIY.

I have the stock antenna in now thats broken. Hence the replacement. I unplugged the power so it would stop looking like crap. It doesnt sit flush. It sticks up as high as the Element antenna would. I have noticed a reduction in AM reception. Thats why I am not too sure if a different antenna would do a little better.
