3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm planning to go with Tokico HP and tein or h&r springs. OEM strut mounts and rsb, but if I can save some money and just get that kit then that'll be great! Car in sig.
Beware if you try to buy those. Venom_5 attempted to buy a Tokico kit like that for his Gen3.5 and found out that despite the fact that several retailers were advertising them, Tokico wasn't manufacturing them at the time.
Anyway, before placing an order I'd recommend you call Tokico directly like he did and find out if they're actually manufacturing the one for your car. Otherwise you could end up in backorder purgatory like he did.
The Tokico HP shocks by themselves are a different story. You CAN buy those, and they're a top notch piece of hardware. I'm sure the spring/strut combo kits like you've listed would be very good too if you could actually get them.
Yeah, I'd check with Tokico to be sure. Venom was looking for the HPK355 kit, but in his post he implies that Tokico said they weren't making ANY Camry suspension kits at the time. If they're making them, great. If they're not, you may save yourself a lot of headache with one phone call.
Yeah, just called. The sales rep told me their in the process, LOL. I thought they would at least have them now since Venom_5 talked to them back in January but I guess theres no kit for camrys. So I guess tokico shocks and some type of springs. (God I'm going to be broke).
Does anyone know any current coupons or discount anywhere for springs/shocks? I can get the Tokico HP for $320.88 on ebay. And these .
Yep. Suspension isn't cheap on the Camry. I just finished mine a few weeks ago. Tokicos for about the same price you quoted. H&R Sport springs from Tire Rack. Then add in any incidentals like strut mounts, boots/insulators, bump stops, etc. that you decide to replace while you're in there. I had $1036 in parts. Then add a 4 wheel alignment. Then if you read this forum much and haven't gotten a TRD RSB yet you'll get the fever for one of those.
Sorry, don't know of any coupons/sales. Those Teins look like a good price. Good luck.
And by the way, it ain't cheap, but I don't regret it at all. The Camry is a totally different machine with the new suspension and I love it
Yeah sounds like everything I'm doing. Haha damn, I think I'll be spending around there too, because I need to replace everything else also. Forgot to mention I'm getting the RSB for around $150 from reggie, since he is located in St. Louis.
Wondering how many miles did your car have before you changed?
I'm currently at 90k, and god, the suspension feels terrible. Feels like a boat, and the noises are getting to me!
