the damper is great...but the coilover manufacturers seriously cheap out on their springs
the progressive spring gets fatigued and becomes shorter over time, and they get stiffer than they are supposed to be.
the K-sports Kontrol Pro factory spring rate is:
9 kg/mm front
4 kg/mm rear
but i think the fronts sagged so much, they've become like 10+kg/mm cuz everytime i go through a bump....my wheel dont even move up and down LOL....instead my car body and I move up and down entirely.
so...i've decided to buy a set of Swift USA coilover springs.
but here's the question.....as for more ride comfort...what spring rates should i go with?
the guy from swift USA recommended me to go with
8kg/mm front
4kg/mm rear
i was thinking 6kg/mm front and 8kg/mm rear
what do you guys think for a good ride comfort spring rate?
Since the damper was made to work with 9/4 you can't go higher or lower than 2kg spring rate on either or risk shortening the damper's life!!!
You can go as low as 7 in front and then up the rear to 6 or just leave the rear 4. Regardless the softer you go from what the dampers was made for you going to shorten it's life.
Nice choice on swift springs heard very good things but that's about it "heard." If you go by what swift springs says then at the same rate springs their springs will bring extra comfort and performance.
with 7/4, you will have hella squat in acceleration ... i would stick with stock rates, or maybe go a bit stiffer in the rear since its FWD and you dont want rearward weight transfer

Regardless of what you do it is coilovers and they were meant to be run with stiff rates. I have no experience or heard comparisons on running with stiffer rates on the back than the front with fwd vehicles but if I had the choice I would of done it now and rocked stiffer rates in the back than the front fuck it you buy coilovers to have all out performance you through out the idea of comfort the minute you ordered it lol.
Grkballag said he likes how it feels when he got his jic coilovers with 9/10 rate or something like that but the rear was stiffer. He had kpsorts before with the stock rates of 9/5 but it is different coilovers so who knows???
I'm just going to take a guess and go with 6 in the rear and 7 in the front or 8 in the front. It's still within 2kg rate from the stock rates and remember the change can't be greater than 2kg rates from stock or dampers will go bye bye sooner!!!

really, you need to at least do SOME calculations if you want any justification on changing from the 7kg/5kg stock rates or whatever i have ... most likely, you are making your handling worse by just picking random rates

the springs are 100 bucks a pop...i cannt mess up now
my handling now is shit cuz the springs in the front are fatigued...anything will IMPROVE my handling..cuz springs without elasticity isnt good for handling...i jump when i hit a small bump at high speed cuz the fronts are so damn stiff.
i was recommended to go 8/4
i was thinking of going 8/10
a guy with exactly same COs went for 10/12
i dont track my car..i plan to, but out of 365 days, 363 will be road use...
maybe i'll just go with what the guy from Swift Springs recommended 8/4 or 8/5
remember the change can't be more than a 2kg difference or you will have to revalved the damper. So I guess just do 8/4 or 8/5 it is still within that range.

How much is the springs $100 per corner???
yep 100 bucks per spring
but i think i can get them cheaper from the dealer at around 350 for entire set....but then there's *** ass shipping to canada...
That's a hard decision if I were in your shoe I think I would of done is have the rear blasted up as high as you can which would be 6kg since it's still within 2kg difference from stock.
The front with 7 is kinda soft I should know while i was still riding it was 7/5 and it was kinda of bouncy sometimes. I would do 8/5 or 8/6 but I never did tried 9 in the front unless the guy lied and gave me stock rates so who knows...
