HELP! no low beams!

Hi, I have a 1994 Toyota Camry. 4 door, 4cylinder, automatic. The low beams on my headlights stopped working. I have tested the hi/low dimmer switch, the headlight fuses, and the headlight relays in the engine compartment. All these items test good. Anyone have any idea where the problem might be? Anyone have any ideas as to further diagnosis? Any suggestions or ideas are most welcome! Thanks, Glenn

did you check to see if the bulbs where burnt out. if theyre ok put a voltage tester to the relays and follow through to the fuse box and then the switch while the switch is on to see exactly where your problem is.

Hi Acer12. Thanks for your response! Yes the headlight bulbs are both good. I really have no idea how to test the wiring, and I bet it isnt easy to explain. I do have a VOM, and understand a bit about wiring and circuits. The headlight relay clicks when I operate the dimmer switch, but I have no low beams. I replaced the headlight relay with one from the wrecking yard, and the result is the same, so I dont think the relay is bad. Could the headlight switch on the stalk be defective? I checked the high/low beam dimmer switch, and it checked out good, but I didnt check the headlight on/0ff switch because I didnt know how. Can you tell me how to check this stuff? Is there any headlight trouble shooting information on the web forum that could assist me? Could there be a fusible link somewhere in the wiring harness that has gone bad? I changed out the light integration relay, and that hasn t solve the problem either! I am running out of ideas, so any assistance you can offer would be very much appreciated! Thanks! Glenn. PS my car is a 94 Camry, but the Canadian model.

This car have daytime running lights? If so, does it have both HIGH and LOW bean headlights, plus RUNNING lights. Which lights do not work, HI, LOW or running lights?

buy yourself one of them cheap voltage testers that look like a screwdriver with a bulb inside of it and i ground wire coming out of the handles end. make sure the stalk is set to the on position. ground the tester (preferably at the battery) and start by checking the plugs that go directly to the bulb by putting the tip of the tester on the positive terminal. if it lights up then theres no question about it. it has to the bulbs. if it doesn't light up then you'll have to follow the wire to make sure it ain't broken or burnt. next check the fuse box in the engine bay by again using the tester(just make contact on the head of the fuses were the metal is bear). if it lights up then the problem must be the wires between the fuse box and the lights. if it doesn't light up check the fuses and if its good then you'll have to check the internal fuse box inside the car under the dash on the drivers side and check the fuses there. if their all good and it lights up then you have some faulty wiring between the fuse boxes. if their all good but still no light up then your problem has to be either the wiring between the stalk and the internal fuse box or the stalk itself.
i hope this helps solve your problem.

Following up on what Acert12 said, you can use your VOM the same way. If you get power at the socket also verify that you have a good ground (Do a resistance check on the socket's ground lead with the neg battery cable disconnected to protect your VOM or use a tester like Acert12 suggested connected to the pos batttery connection and touching the socket's ground lead with the neg post connected). When tracing down an electrical glitch knowledge is power!
