1) pull out rear bench : just yank like no-one's business

2) tip back rests down : you already know how.

3) take out the shoulder cushion - its the part of the seat that doesn't fold down with the back rest. : i think its 10mm on the bottom and its held on by clips on top.

4) take out the paneling by the rear deck : As w/all paneling- its held on by a clip.. so be gentle and firm.

5) take out 3rd brake light housing on the rear deck (idk what its called but the speaker grills are mounted on it.) : once again- held on by clips and watch out for the plug its connected to.

6) Pop out the rear deck: More clips- so be careful.

7) from here on.. you should be able to see the mount bolts on the far corners.

8) good luck!

I believe all you have to do is remove the back seat bottom cushion and then remove the bottom bolt at both side bolsters and then pull up on the side bolsters and lift them off. The 3 nuts holding the upper strut studs to the car are excessible that way. It is a bit tight in there, but take your time and you can wrench them off. Leave the big nut in the center of the strut alone, until the strut is removed from the car and you have put the strut assembly safely in a coil spring compressor.

Behind the shoulder cushions. Yank out rear seat lower half, pull the bolts holding the shoulder cushions in
place, yank the cushions up and out. Bolts visible.

Yeah, it really is that simple. Toyota is clever at hiding things but they're never all that hard to get to.
