4th Generation Replacing Headlight Assembly (98 Camry LE)

Hey all,

Similar to another poster, I decided to upgrade my headlight situation due poor visibility in bad weather conditions. My upgrade wasn't all that serious in comparison to some of the other stuff I've seen:

Anzo Headlights with Black Housing

Sylvania Silver Star bulbs (9003 ST)

I expect to receive the headlight assembly tomorrow, and in preparation for installation, was wondering if there were any instructions/recommendations for removing and installing a new set? I've heard some concerns of wires melting with certain bulbs, but am not sure if this should be an issue as the assembly and bulbs i purchased are both designed for a 98 Camry (according to 2 of the merchants I visited.)

Thanks all, your help is appreciated!

that headlight isn't gonna work unless you're ready to start hacking into the frame. - those are built for the gen 4.5 (00-01)- where they have two bulbs.. we only have 1 H4 bulb.

silverstars are what? $50-$55 a pair? - grab a cheap HID kit on ebay for $70 instead.. it'll be more pleasing.

good luck.

like one to hate stated those headlights are not made for a 98 camry and you will have to do some decent modifications to make them fit. search for the diy that's floating around but unless you want to do a bit of cutting and frame bending i would try to cancel your order or return them

well that sucks...

i was definitely looking forward to the upgrade, but seeing as how all this extra effort would be needed to install them, I'll be taking your advice and returning them.

you'd think by now though Anzo wouldn't list the product for 1997 - 2001 Toyota Camry with HALO on their website if it couldn't be used for the 97, 98, and 99 models?

I'll be looking into eBay HID kits soon enough though. Any suggestions on that end?

dude if u gonna get HID, DO NOT get tha cheap ones from ebay, tha ballasts on those things will be gone within 6 months. If u gon do HID's do ur research n spend money on a good kit, otherwise, dont do it .

As far as watever that site says, those headlights r mos def for 2000-2001 (gen 4.5) camrys, tha headlights are bigger than tha those on tha gen 4's (1997-1999).

I have a 1999 Camry LE and was thinking of upgrading the headlights as well.
Who has a kit that will fit this model?

there is no kit, search up on this topic you will find many threads and 2 options

1. do some cutting and bending so they fit
2. replace bumpers and possibly some other parts i forget to make it fit
3. well i guess there is a 3 sell your car and get a newer one
4. just give up and do something else like the clear lenses that one guy was selling
