3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was driving in PA on the I-80 EB and was about to get off exit 302b, but as a hit the brakes, my tires started skidding on the wet pavement, and I couldn't steer my car. So I slammed right into the wooden pole, completely destroying the front drivers side. I tried to drive it again, but it got wobbly as I tried to drive it straight. When I try to turn, the drivers side front wheel would rub against the wheel well. I ended up getting the Camry towed back the city, so now it's sitting in front of the shop.
I'll try to get pics when I go to the shop tomorrow. I've been advised that if it costs to much to repair, getting another car may be a better option.
Edit: Depending on the diagnosis, I may try to repair it myself to save some money. My biggest fear right now is damage to the suspension, axle, and brakes. I don't know how to approach frame damage, so if there is any, I'd have to bring it to a shop.
Sighs....=(

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.
--Can honestly go to a parts counter and ask for brake shoes for the front brakes.
--Likes long walks on the beach.... once it's lit by a massive bonfire.
Today I got the call from my mechanic. To sum everything up, he told me there is extensive damage to the suspension system, specifically a bent lower control arm, among other parts. There is definitely frame damage. All in all, cost of repair will be 950, if I want them to fix it. Unfortunately, my parents are not willing to pay to fix it anymore. And I, myself, don't have that kind of money. So it's pretty much going to the junker unless someone wants it for parts.
Also, I do have the ES300 rims for sale. No damage to the rims, tires are about 40%. I may decide to part the Camry, depending if I can find a place to store the car for a bit.

I don't know about the US, but over here in Canada, scrap metal is something like $140 a ton. So parting the car, and selling the rest for scrap might be more cost effective.
thanks to the people showing concern, i really appreciate it a lot. even though i won't be driving a Gen 3 anymore for the time being, i'll still check the forums, share my experiences, and help those new to the Gen 3.
also, i do have a radiator cover for sale. its the black sheet piece of plastic that goes over the space between your frame and your grille/headlights. this i am willing to ship but i need to figure out how to package it first.

How much for that, I may get it when the month's money comes in.
